Summary

This is a part-time tutoring position for an experienced math tutor. As most of our students live in Paris, qualified candidates who live in Paris will be considered for both in-person and online tutoring. Qualified candidates living outside of Paris or France will be considered for online tutoring only.

Responsibilities

  • Providing exceptional one-to-one support to each student you tutor
  • Organizing a flexible but reliable weekly schedule that meets the student's needs and family's expectations over time
  • Building a long-term professional relationship with each student and his or her family

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience teaching Mathematics, with a strong preference given to applicants with tutoring experience for IB math
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate complex concepts to students aged 13-18
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to remain patient, empathetic and professional throughout all interactions with students
  • Fluent in English
  • Flexibility and availability to work both in-person and online on an irregular schedule (i.e. weekday afternoons and evenings, weekends, etc)
  • Work permission in France as a self-employed / independent contractor (if living in France)
  • Proficiency with and openness to computer and tablet technologies

Additional information

Training for online math tutoring will be provided. This is an independent contractor role. If you are living in France, legal permission to perform self-employed work in France as well as a French background check are both essential. 

Your prospective students attend international schools and most receive math instruction in English for the International Baccalaureate (IB) program or are preparing to enter the IB program. There is also occasional demand for Advanced Placement (AP), UK A-Level, SAT, and other standardized exams and programs.

A select number of applicants will be asked to attend an online interview which includes a mock tutoring session, and complete a short exam used to assess math knowledge and teaching approach.
